App Update #3: Notifications, Honesty & A Bit More Swiping

We've been busy tinkering under the hood again, and this time, it’s all about making your BokBok experience smoother, fairer, and a bit more engaging. From better notifications to more honest onboarding (yes, we saw those fake numbers—oops), here’s everything new in your favorite video dating app.

A Gentle Nudge: New Notifications 📢

Let’s face it, dating apps can be a rollercoaster. One minute, you’re getting matches left and right; the next, crickets. To keep you in the loop, we’ve added two new notifications:

• Someone likes you! No, we won’t tell you who (where’s the fun in that?), but at least you’ll know that romance is in the air. Maybe it’s time to open the app and start swiping?

• Your swipes have reset! You currently get 20 swipes per day, and now we’ll gently remind you when they refresh. No more guessing when it’s go-time again.

Because what’s worse than running out of swipes? Not realizing when you get them back.

Keeping It Real: No More Fake Numbers 🙅‍♂️

We’ll admit it. In the past, our onboarding screens had some… let’s call them overenthusiastic numbers. “47 live video dates happening right now”? Yeah, that wasn’t always true. And while hype is great, trust is better. So, we’ve ditched the made-up stats and are keeping it 100% honest from now on.

We believe in transparency, and even if that means showing lower numbers, we’d rather build real trust with you than rely on fluff. It’s never too late to do the right thing, right?

Live Video Matching: A Small (But Important) Clarification 🎥

Live video dates are awesome, but right now, our focus is on the explore/swiping section. This means that if you jump into a live date, you might get matched with anyone, regardless of your stated preferences. To avoid confusion (and some surprised faces), we’ve updated the intro screen to make this crystal clear.

Will we improve this in the future? Absolutely. But for now, we want to set the right expectations so no one ends up in a video date they weren’t expecting.

Swiping Across Continents? Not Anymore 🌍

Long-distance love is great—until you realize your match is literally on another continent. We’ve tweaked our algorithm so that users very far away will appear last, rather than randomly showing up early.

So unless you're in the mood for extreme long-distance romance, your feed should now feel a lot more relevant.

Bug Fixes & Small Improvements 🐛🔧

• Some users were randomly getting logged out. Annoying? Very. Fixed? Also yes.

• App now refreshes properly when you bring it back from the background.

• Updated dependencies, added some new icons, and improved translations. Because details matter.
